Tānerore- SLJ Summer Learning Journey

Hello Readers today I am going to be showing you a picture of the Koru that I have drawn. The picture that I have drawn is from the fern plant. Then I drew the simple kowhaiwhai pattern. kowhaiwhai patterns are a form of mouri art at a Mariah you can see kowhaiwhai patterns if you look up at the ceiling. kowhaiwhai patterns are not just  pretty decorations they  tell storys about people and our enviourment. Here is my Koru and my kowhaiwhai drawings.

  1. Kia Ora Angel,

You’ve done such amazing drawings! They look beautiful and I really like that you’ve explained what each part of it is and where they come from. Maori art is so beautiful, and you’ve replicated the patterns from the marae fabulously!

Have you ever drawn a Koru before? If you had to colour them in, what would they look like?

Keep up the fantastic work! I can’t wait to see more of your blog posts!

    Ka kite anō,
    Shannon (SLJ)

Thank you for commenting on my blog no I have never drawn a Koru before. I dont know what it would look like if I had coloured it. 2. Good evening Angel.
I really liked your introduction to your post.It explained everything that the reader would need to know about why you posted your work.
My favourite picture is the bottom one as it looks like the fern is opening up.
Have a great holiday and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

  3. Hey Angel, your koru and kowhaiwhai look great. What story are you telling your drawings? Hopefully, you have some time over the holidays to colour them in so they really “pop”. Just as a side note because I know the spellcheck and auto correction is not the best with Maori words: you may want to edit your spelling of Marae and Maori.

    2. Good afternoon Angel.
I have had a great holiday so far.Thank you for asking.
Sam and I went to mini golf a couple of weeks ago and I have been down to Milton for a funeral.
I have never tried bubble tea.I have seen it and thought it didn't look very appealing.I know that you an get different flavours.
If you were to describe what it tasted like, what words would you use?.
